There was lots of family fun since I wrote last!
Amelia and her family (husband Ben, daughters Faye and Fern) visited us early in July. It was so nice to spend time with them just enjoying good weather and being together. Faye and Fern are a riot, especially together, and even though Krista and I had visited them just a few weeks ago, they have already changed so much, that it was delightful to have them here and be together.
For America's 250th birthday, our family all went to Abigail and Bernie's house for good food, a walk through their "back 40", water play, and the adventurous even swam in their pond (I wasn't brave enough). That night several of us gathered on the lawn of our local grocery store to watch the town's fireworks and eat a lot of food that's bad for you. After all, that's the American way!
Finally, just this past week, Krista and I took a vacation to visit Kortney and her family (husband Mat, daughters Daisy and Bea, and son Gus) in Minnesota. We took the train to get there, and we really enjoyed the whole time, including the train ride. It was relaxing and fun, even with the 90+ degree weather! We went to the Mall of America and enjoyed the Nickelodeon Amusement Park in the mall one day, and then another day we went to the largest candy store in Minnesota. Of course, we bought more food that's bad for you, besides the Lindt candies we'd bought at the mall after the amusement park. You can never have too much candy, I always say. We also went swimming at a local lake and went to Gus's swim lessons with him.
A lot of us in the Northeast experienced some very poor air quality lately because of wildfires in western Ontario, Canada, and in northern Minnesota. We had a day in Minnesota where it wasn't safe to be outside, so we just played games, did puzzles, and stayed in, but we still had a good time even that day.
