This seems to have been an eventful month!
Krista and I went to a school art show on May 18, where our grandkids, Josie, Alma, and Alex had their artwork displayed. We were impressed with their skill!

On May 20, we went to granddaughter Alma's orchestra concert. They sounded really good, and we really liked the variety of songs they played.

We spent our Memorial Day at the Mickles with lots of beautiful weather, great food, wonderful people, and thankfulness to God for those who gave their lives for our freedom.
The next day was granddaughters Alma and Hazel's class play. They used well-known fairy tales to show life lessons. It was very well written to be entertaining, funny, and meaningful, and Hazel and Alma did a wonderful job in their parts. Hazel even did a cartwheel during one of the choreography times!

On May 27, our church did our Awana closing. I was very proud of the achievements of all my grandkids: Hazel, Ivy, Josie, and Truman Sommer, and Alma, Alex, Ansa, and Milo Mickle.
I wanted to go see the new Star Wars Mandalorian movie and asked everyone here if anyone would go with me. It turned out to be a daddy-daughter date with Abigail since no one else could or wanted to go, but we both enjoyed it and enjoyed our time together.
The final grandchild activity we did this past month was Ivy's band concert on June 2. Again, we were impressed with how good they sounded and the fun variety of songs they played.

Finally, and this is exciting for me, although I know people have varying feelings about it, I decided to apply for my state pistol permit. I keep saying, and it's true, that I honestly don't know if I'll ever actually buy a gun, but I wanted to be legally able to if I decide to. I took a state mandated pistol class on June 6 and 7, and I thought it was very interesting and fun. Besides learning all about the laws and functioning of guns, we had to pass a target shooting competency. My experience target shooting with my son-in-law, Ben (Amelia's husband), when we visited Kentucky came in handy! I've submitted my application now, and it can take 6 to 12 months to hear back, so it will be a while yet before anything more happens on that.
Well, that's the excitement in our family's lives this month, so we'll talk again in July!
