When I’m
getting ready to write these, I always look at what pictures I’ve taken in the
last month to remind me what happened. I don’t have any pictures at all,
so all I can conclude is that nothing happened.
Until April!
Oh wait.
I also always look back at my last month’s calendar to see if anything
happened, so hang on, and let me double-check that before I set the record for
shortest update ever…
You’ll be
delighted to hear that something actually DID happen between now and when I
last wrote. I know you were all worried there for a second, so I’m happy
to set your hearts at ease.
The barbershop
quartet I am in that started a few months ago, now officially has a name:
A-chording to Us (barbershoppers are big on bad puns). Our first time to
actually perform is also set. Our chorus’s annual show is on May 18 at
the Lyric Theatre in Rochester, NY, and A-chording to Us will be singing two or
three songs at it. If you are in the general area and want tickets, let
me know. If you are outside this area, and planning to fly in for this
once-in-a-lifetime event (the premiere performance of A-chording to Us, a
soon-to-be Grammy winning barbershop quartet—you can say you knew us before we
were famous!), I’d say you have too much time and money on your hands, but I
can get you tickets too.
Celebrations
this past month were Ella and Cody’s fifth anniversary on 2/22, Caitlin and
Ben’s third anniversary on 3/5, my brother, Ken’s, birthday on 3/6, and
Kortney’s birthday on 3/17.
Our chorus sang
at an event in town called Local Vocal that featured several a cappella groups,
both traditional (like ours) and modern, including a cappella groups from
several local colleges. I really enjoyed hearing all the different musical
styles and could appreciate the excellent musicians, even if the style of music
wasn’t particularly to my taste.
So, the month
wasn’t a total non-event, but not too busy either.
Finally, I’d
appreciate prayers for my job situation. I work at Xerox doing computer
support, and have in various roles for the past 21 years. I’ve always
worked for a company Xerox hired to do that work, not really for Xerox itself
(EDS, DecisionOne, EDS again, HP, ACS, Xerox Services, Atos). Once again,
that situation is changing, but this time there is no assurance that I will be
just transitioning to a new company still doing what I’ve been doing at Xerox,
and it seems possible, if not likely, that I will be out of a job come the
middle of May. Please pray for peace and wisdom as I seek what God has
for me next. Thank you!
And now,
really: Until April!
