We got our
first really good snowstorm shortly after I wrote last month: about 2
feet fell over a couple of days. We missed a couple of church services,
and I had to work from home some days too, but it was an exciting adventure!

We celebrated
Jemmie’s 16th birthday on 1/21, and she had a party the following Saturday with
some of her cousins and friends. She even let Levi join the party with
all of the girls. They played games, did karaoke (thanks to Cody’s
equipment and Zach’s running of it), and had cake and ice cream. Jemmie
planned her whole party, and I think everyone enjoyed it!

Other birthdays
since I wrote last were Abigail’s on 2/2, Cody’s on 2/11, and Caitlin’s today,
2/18.
I’m not going
to talk about the Super Bowl because I’m tired of the
team-which-we-do-not-name.
We’ve tried
relieving our football withdrawal by watching some of the Alliance of American
Football games, but it’s pretty obvious to me these are the guys that aren’t
good enough for the NFL. Some of the games have been mildly entertaining,
but I’m not too invested in it yet. Maybe I would be more into it if any
of the teams were local to me, or even to my hometown of Seattle. I guess
it’s better than no football. A little.
Hannah and
Kevin are delighted to announce the birth of their third child (our eighth
grandchild), Ansa Taylor Mickle. Ansa was born on Feb 4 at 12:55AM.
She weighed 9 lbs, 13 ozs, and was 22 inches long. We are all delighted
with her, and Hannah is recovering well.

Carissa and
Ruby visited us for a couple of weeks. It was so nice to be able to have
time with them alone since they usually come when everyone’s around, which is
great too, but being able to really get to know and talk to them individually
was special. And they were here when Ansa was born so that was extra nice
for Carissa to be here for her latest niece and Ruby to meet her new cousin.

The computer
lab where I work got moved to a new building earlier this month, in case my
typing looks different. We started the move on February 7, and finally
last week Friday, February 15, I think everything is working again in our new
location. Moving is always a bit stressful, but I think this will work
out.
On February 9,
the girls here (Krista, Carissa, Hannah, Ella, Abigail, Amelia, and Jemmie) all
had a girls’ day at Hannah’s house where they did girly things, so Kevin, Cody,
Levi, and I took the kids (Alma, Alex, Hazel, Ivy, Josie, and Ruby) to Ontario Play
and Café for a few hours. It’s a former warehouse with all kinds of fun
things for kids to play on and with, and a small café for us all to get
lunch. We enjoyed watching them climb on and play with everything, and
then we got them home just in time for naps.
