We celebrated
Ella’s birthday on 9/21. Unfortunately, we had to watch the Bills get
their first loss of the season that same day. But San Diego, who beat
them, also beat the world champion Seahawks, so there’s a little comfort in
that, but not much since I’m a Seahawks fan too. Since then they’ve lost
to Houston and New England, and beat a tough Detroit team. We’re hoping
that this year they might end their record long playoff drought.

I’ve been
going to CAP alone lately because Zach has joined a soccer team that has games
on CAP nights. They’re doing pretty well—they have a chance to be the 2nd
seed in the upcoming playoffs—and he is enjoying getting to know other guys and
play soccer with them.
This fall we
started using the book “How God Makes Men” by Patrick Morley in our Friday
morning Men’s Bible Study. In the book, Morley takes the stories of 10
men from the Bible and applies principles from their lives to how God wants to
make us as men into the husbands, fathers, and leaders He has called us to
be. It’s an excellent book, and I highly recommend it.
On 10/12,
some of us (Krista and I, Hannah and Kevin, Ella and Cody, Abigail, and Zach)
went to the Bills game against New England. It was fun even though they
still haven’t figured out how to beat them. They were at least
competitive most of the game. The last game I went to several years ago
was also against New England, and the Bills lost that one by a much wider
score, and were never really in it at all.

I guess it
was a relatively uneventful month, but maybe next month will be more
exciting. If this was too boring, save it for some time when you can’t
sleep and read it again then. You’ll be snoring in no time.
Until
November!
